What it costs now

Samsung launched the Galaxy A57 5G in the US in April 2026 at $549.99. Samsung raised the price after launch, and on October 15, 2026 the maker listed the 128GB model at $599.99 and the 256GB model at $679.99. No sale was running that day.

At launch Samsung sold the phone unlocked only, and samsung.com still offers only the unlocked version. That matters because unlocked phones are easier to move between carriers. Our guide to unlocked vs carrier phones explains the trade-off.

The price rise is part of a pattern this year. See why phones cost more in 2026 for the full list.

Screen and size

The screen is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone weighs 179 g. For comparison, the Galaxy A37 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED and weighs 196 g, so the A57 is 17 g lighter. The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch pOLED display with 120Hz and weighs 183 g.

All three phones carry an IP68 rating. That is a high level of dust and water protection for phones at this price.

Chip, memory and cameras

Samsung lists the Exynos 1680 chip and 8GB of RAM in the A57. The A37 uses the Exynos 1480 with 6GB of RAM (8GB with the 256GB model). The Pixel 10a uses Google's Tensor G4 with 8GB of RAM.

The A57 has three rear cameras: a 50MP main, a 12MP ultra wide and a 5MP macro. The A37 has a 50MP main, an 8MP ultra wide and a 5MP macro. The Pixel 10a has two: a 48MP wide and a 13MP ultrawide.

On paper, the A57 has the stronger ultra-wide camera of the Samsung pair (12MP against 8MP). We cannot say how the photos look. Megapixels do not decide image quality.

Battery and charging

Samsung lists a typical battery capacity of 5,000 mAh, and the A37 has the same figure. The Pixel 10a lists a typical 5,100 mAh.

Samsung lists 45W wired charging for both Galaxy models. Google states no maximum wattage for the Pixel 10a, but says it reaches up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 45W or stronger USB-C PPS charger. It also supports Qi wireless charging.

Software updates

Samsung says "up to six generations" of Android and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates, counted from the first global launch. The end date on samsung.com/us is March 31, 2032. The A37 has the same promise and the same end date.

The Pixel 10a is promised seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates by Google, counted from March 2026, which runs to about March 2033. Google publishes no exact end date.

So the Pixel 10a lists about a year more support than the A57, for roughly the same price. To see how all brands compare, read how long phones get updates.

SIM and carriers

The A57 takes a nano-SIM plus an eSIM. The Pixel 10a also takes one nano-SIM and one eSIM. AT&T and T-Mobile are both listed as supported for the A57.

Verizon is not confirmed. That does not mean the phone does not work on Verizon, only that we could not confirm support. Our guide on whether an unlocked phone works on Verizon shows how to check a specific model with your carrier before you buy.

For the A37 and Pixel 10a, all three major carriers are listed as supported.

A57 against the A37 and Pixel 10a

The A37 costs $489.99 for 128GB, launched at $449.99. The gap between the A57 and A37 is $110 at the 128GB size. The Pixel 10a launched at $499 in March 2026, and Google raised it by $100 around early October, so Google Store now shows $599 for 128GB and $699 for 256GB.

For the $110 over the A37, the A57 adds a different chip, more RAM, a 12MP ultra wide, and a lighter body. The A37 keeps the same battery, charging, screen size and update promise.

Who it fits

The Galaxy A57 5G fits someone who wants a large screen, the longest Samsung midrange update promise and a physical SIM slot with eSIM as a backup. Its weak point is the unconfirmed Verizon support and the higher price than the A37.

If you do not need the extra camera and RAM, the A37 gives you most of the same phone for $110 less. Read Galaxy A37 vs Galaxy A57 for that choice, or Pixel 10a vs Galaxy A57 for the Google option. If your budget is lower, see best phones under $500.
