Galaxy S26 vs Pixel 11: which 6.3-inch Android phone to buy

The Galaxy S26 now lists at $999.99 and the Pixel 11 at $899. We compare battery, zoom, weight, SIM options and update end dates on paper.

For most buyers, the Pixel 11 is the better deal on paper. On October 15, 2026, it costs $899 on Google's store against $999.99 for the Galaxy S26 on Samsung's, and for less money it has the bigger battery (4,985 mAh vs 4,300 mAh) and the longer zoom lens (5x vs 3x). Buy the Galaxy S26 if you want the lighter phone, at 167 g against 197 g, or if you need a physical SIM card slot, which the US Pixel 11 doesn't have.

A lot is the same. Both have a 6.3-inch, 120 Hz screen, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of base storage and an IP68 rating. Both are sold for AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, and both makers promise seven years of updates. The chips differ, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy in the Samsung and Google's Tensor G6 in the Pixel, but we don't rank processor speed from spec sheets.

We haven't held either phone. This comparison uses Samsung's and Google's published specs, store pages and update policies, which are listed at the end.

The table shows launch prices. Samsung has raised the Galaxy S26's price since then.

Price: the Galaxy costs more than it did at launch

Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 at $899.99 in March 2026 and has since raised the regular US price. On October 15, 2026, samsung.com lists the 256 GB model at $999.99 and the 512 GB model at $1,199.99. Samsung's store also runs promotions below the regular price. We quote the regular price because sale prices come and go.

Google launched the Pixel 11 at $899 in August 2026 and still lists it at $899 on October 15, 2026. At 512 GB the Pixel is also the cheaper of the two.

Samsung wasn't alone this year. Our rundown of why phones cost more in 2026 covers the other increases.

Battery and charging: more capacity in the Pixel

Samsung lists the Galaxy S26's battery at 4,300 mAh and Google lists the Pixel 11's at 4,985 mAh, both typical values. With the same screen size, the Pixel carries the larger battery.

Capacity isn't the same thing as battery life. The chip, the screen and the software all change how long a charge lasts, so we don't rank endurance from capacity alone.

On charging, Samsung rates the S26 at 25W wired. Google doesn't state a maximum wattage for the Pixel 11. It says the phone reaches up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a 30W or stronger USB-C PPS charger, and that it charges wirelessly at up to 25W through Pixelsnap (Qi2.2).

Zoom: 5x on the Pixel, 3x on the Galaxy

Both phones have three rear cameras, and both include a telephoto. The Galaxy S26 has a 50MP main, a 12MP ultra wide and a 10MP 3x telephoto. The Pixel 11 has a 48MP wide, a 13MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP 5x telephoto.

The practical difference is reach. A 3x lens suits portraits and subjects a few steps away. A 5x lens gets closer to things far off, like a stage or the field at a high school game. If you shoot distant subjects often, the Pixel's lens goes further before the phone has to crop.

A spec sheet can't tell you which camera takes the better photo, and we haven't taken pictures with either one.

Weight: the Galaxy is 30 g lighter

The Galaxy S26 weighs 167 g and the Pixel 11 weighs 197 g. Both have a 6.3-inch screen, so the S26 packs the same screen size into a lighter phone.

If you use your phone one-handed for long stretches, that's the strongest reason on paper to pick the Samsung.

Updates: seven years each, different end dates

Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S26, counted from the global launch date. Samsung's US spec page puts the end of security updates in February 2033.

Google promises 7 years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for the Pixel 11, counted from its August 2026 US launch. That runs through about August 2033, though Google gives no exact end date.

The promises are the same length, but the Pixel came out later in 2026, so its support should last about six months longer. If you replace your phone every three or four years, that gap won't affect you.

SIM: the Galaxy keeps a card slot

The US Pixel 11 has no SIM tray. It's eSIM-only, with support for two eSIMs at once. The Galaxy S26 takes a nano-SIM card plus eSIM, and it also supports dual eSIM.

If you move a SIM card between phones, or buy a physical SIM card when you travel abroad, the S26 handles that and the Pixel doesn't. If you've already switched your line to eSIM, this difference won't matter.

Where you can buy them is close to identical. Google sells the Pixel 11 unlocked and in Verizon, AT&T and Google Fi versions on its own store, and T-Mobile announced it in August 2026. The Galaxy S26 has product pages at AT&T and Verizon, and T-Mobile announced it as well. If you plan to stay with one of the big three carriers, neither phone rules you out.

Who should buy which

  • Pixel 11: you want the lower price today, the bigger battery, a 5x zoom lens, or updates through about August 2033.
  • Galaxy S26: you want the lighter phone or a physical SIM slot, and the $999.99 regular price, or a Samsung promotion, works for your budget.
  • Still weighing an iPhone: we compare the Pixel 11 with Apple's $899 phone in iPhone 17 vs Pixel 11.
