Pixel 10a vs iPhone 17e: the cheapest Pixel and iPhone compared
Pixel 10a at $599 against iPhone 17e at $699: updates, cameras, screen refresh, storage and SIM options compared on paper after both price rises.

The Pixel 10a costs $599 and the iPhone 17e costs $699, so the iPhone is $100 more. On paper, the Pixel gives you a 120Hz screen, a second camera and a seven-year update promise. The iPhone gives you twice the storage at the base size, a lighter body and a chip that is also in the iPhone 17.
We have not used either phone, so this page covers published specs only.
Prices after both rises
Both companies raised prices this year. Google launched the Pixel 10a at $499 on March 5, 2026. Droid Life reported that Google added $100 around October 2 without an announcement. The Google Store now shows $599 for 128GB and $699 for 256GB.
Apple launched the iPhone 17e at $599 on March 11, 2026 and raised the price by $100 on September 9, 2026. On October 15, 2026 the maker listed it at $699 for 256GB and $899 for 512GB.
The base models are not the same size. The Pixel 10a starts at 128GB and the iPhone 17e starts at 256GB. If you need 256GB, the Pixel costs $699, which is the same as the iPhone 17e at 256GB. At equal storage, the two phones cost the same on paper.
Screen
The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch pOLED display with a refresh rate of 60 to 120Hz. The iPhone 17e has a 6.1-inch OLED display. Apple lists no refresh rate for this model and no ProMotion. The 60Hz figure comes from 9to5Mac and MacRumors, not from Apple.
On paper that is a clear gap: a 120Hz screen on the Pixel against a 60Hz screen on the iPhone. Apple's spec list also shows no Dynamic Island for the 17e. MacRumors calls the cutout a notch.
If smooth scrolling matters to you, the Pixel 10a has the edge on paper. We have not seen either screen in person.
Cameras
The Pixel 10a lists two rear cameras: a 48MP wide and a 13MP ultrawide. The iPhone 17e lists one: a 48MP Fusion Main.
The difference is the ultra-wide lens. If you take group photos indoors or wide landscape shots, the Pixel lists a lens for that and the iPhone 17e does not. Neither phone lists a telephoto lens.
Megapixels do not tell you which camera makes better pictures, and we cannot judge that without using them.
Chip, battery and charging
The Pixel 10a uses Google's Tensor G4 with 8GB of RAM. The iPhone 17e uses Apple's A19. Apple does not publish RAM or battery capacity in mAh.
Google lists a typical battery of 5,100 mAh, with a minimum of 5,000 mAh, and says it lasts 30 hours or more, or up to 120 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Apple says the iPhone 17e lasts up to 26 hours of video playback. Those are different tests, so the numbers do not line up.
For charging, Google says the Pixel reaches up to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 45W or stronger adapter. Apple says the iPhone 17e reaches up to 50% in 30 minutes with a 20W or stronger adapter. Neither maker gives a maximum wattage. The Pixel supports Qi wireless charging, and the iPhone supports MagSafe and Qi2.
Weight and durability
The Pixel 10a weighs 183 g and the iPhone 17e weighs 169 g. The Pixel is 14 g heavier but also has a larger screen. Both phones have an IP68 rating.
Software updates
Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for the Pixel 10a, counted from March 2026. That runs to about March 2033, though Google publishes no exact end date.
Apple publishes no fixed update period for the iPhone 17e. It is supported by iOS 27, and Apple's compatibility list for that release still includes the iPhone 11 from 2019. This is history, not a promise.
If you want a written commitment, only the Pixel has one. See how long phones get updates for every brand.
SIM and carriers
The Pixel 10a takes one nano-SIM plus an eSIM. The iPhone 17e is eSIM only, with dual eSIM support and no physical SIM. Both are listed as supported on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
If you have never set up an eSIM, read eSIM in the US before choosing the iPhone. Anyone who wants a physical SIM slot has only one choice here.
