Galaxy S26 FE specs and price: the cheaper S26

The Galaxy S26 FE lists at $699.99, $300 less than the S26, and keeps Samsung's seven-year update promise. What it keeps and what it gives up, from the specs.

The Galaxy S26 FE is the cheapest way to get Samsung's seven-year update promise: it launched at $699.99 in September 2026, and the maker still listed that price on October 15, 2026. The regular S26 costs $300 more at $999.99, and the Galaxy A57 5G costs $100 less at $599.99 but gets six years of updates. This page compares the three using Samsung's published specs.

Price and storage

The S26 FE starts at 128GB for $699.99. The 256GB model is $799.99. Samsung ran a $100 sale from October 9 to October 26, 2026, which put the two models at $599.99 and $699.99. Sales end, so check the live price.

The S26 starts at 256GB, so its storage jump accounts for some of the price gap. The S26 launched at $899.99 in March 2026 and now lists at $999.99. For storage parity, the 256GB FE at $799.99 is $200 below the S26. The Galaxy S26 overview has more on that phone.

What the FE keeps from the S series

Updates. Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. For the FE, the end date listed on samsung.com/us is September 2033. The S26's is February 2033. The A57 5G has a six-year promise that runs to March 2032.

The FE also keeps an IP68 rating, a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen and a three-lens rear camera with a 3x telephoto. It runs One UI 9. Compare that with the A57's three lenses, where the third is a 5MP macro rather than a telephoto.

What it gives up

The chip is the main difference. The FE uses Samsung's own Exynos 2500, and the S26 uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. The FE has 8GB of RAM against 12GB on the S26. We cannot say how that shows up in daily use, but the spec sheet gap is real.

The camera list is also a notch lower. The S26 lists a 50MP main, 12MP ultra wide and 10MP 3x telephoto. The FE lists a 50MP main, 12MP ultra wide and 8MP 3x telephoto. The sensors on the S26's telephoto and the FE's differ by two megapixels on paper, which does not say much about results.

Where the FE is ahead of the S26

Battery and charging favor the FE. It lists a 4,900 mAh battery and 45W wired charging. The S26 lists 4,300 mAh and 25W. Treat 4,900 mAh as the typical value, not a guaranteed minimum.

The FE has a larger 6.7-inch screen against 6.3 inches on the S26. The trade is weight: 193g against 167g. If you want a phone that is easy to hold in one hand, the S26 is the smaller device. Our Galaxy S26 vs Pixel 11 page covers that size class.

FE versus A57 5G

The A57 5G launched at $549.99 in April 2026 and Samsung lists it at $599.99 for 128GB, or $679.99 for 256GB. Both it and the FE have a 6.7-inch, 120Hz screen and IP68 protection. The A57 lists an Exynos 1680 chip, 8GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh battery and 45W charging, and it weighs 179g.

The extra $100 for the FE therefore buys a longer update promise (seven years against six), a telephoto lens instead of a macro, and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel instead of Super AMOLED+. The A57 is lighter by 14g and has a slightly larger battery on paper. Samsung sells the A57 unlocked only, and Verizon support is not confirmed. See the Galaxy A57 5G overview for that phone alone.

Who should pick it

Pick the S26 FE if you want seven years of updates without paying S26 money, and you value a bigger battery over the smallest body. Pick the S26 if a compact size and the top Snapdragon chip matter more than $300. Pick the A57 if you do not need the longer promise and want to save $100.

If your budget sits around this range, our best phones between $500 and $700 list puts the FE next to other options, and the Samsung buying guide shows the whole lineup.
